Children’s Book World will be shining their Sunday Spotlight on author Janice Nissen and her charming book, Lizbeth, the Little Lost Golf Ball, on Sunday, March 15, from 2-4 p.m.
In this heartwarming story for ages 3–8, young readers meet Lizbeth, a bright pink golf ball brimming with curiosity, as she sets out on her very first adventure on the golf course. Chosen by junior golfer JoJo, Lizbeth discovers a world of whimsical characters—including Putter Pete, Frida Flag, and Claude Cup—who introduce her to the fun and fundamentals of the game. When Lizbeth is swept into a pond and begins to lose hope, she finds unexpected friendship in Teddy, a wise golf ball who loves his peaceful pond life, and Genji Gator, whose humor and kindness help her remember that being lost doesn’t mean being alone.
Nissen, a lifelong learner who came to writing after a successful biopharma career, created Lizbeth’s story to celebrate the resilience, confidence, and sense of belonging that golf can inspire in children. Through simple, engaging text and playful scenes on the course, she gently weaves in values like perseverance, friendship, and self‑improvement—reminding families that golf is about more than scorecards; it’s about connection, character, and joy in the outdoors. Praised by golf professionals for bringing the spirit of the game to life for kids, Lizbeth, the Little Lost Golf Ball is already becoming a staple in golf‑loving homes and junior golf programs.
Perfect for story time, classroom read‑alouds, and junior golfers just starting out, Lizbeth, the Little Lost Golf Ball invites children to see themselves on the fairway—and to discover that every “lost ball” moment can be the beginning of a new adventure.
Meet Janice Nissen, hear about Lizbeth’s journey from the pro shop to the pond and back again, and celebrate a book that’s a true hole‑in‑one for young readers and their grown‑ups. She will be appearing from 2-4 p.m. Be sure to be there from 2-4 on Sunday, March 15 at Children’s Book World, located at 17 Haverford Station Rd., Haverford, PA
